The North Wales Wildlife Gardening Award Scheme
The concern for our local and global
environment is real but instead of just worrying about it, you can
do something positive by improving your own patch into a wildlife
friendly garden and receive a bronze, silver or gold award as well
as a prize for your garden for entering.

The campaign to attract more birds, butterflies, hedgehogs, and
other creatures to gardens in North Wales began in August 2002, and
its aim is to give the public information on ways which will help
them to conserve and attract wildlife to their gardens.
As part of the campaign, Snowdonia Wildlife Gardening
Partnership is holding a competition with 4 categories for private
gardens (large and small) , community gardens, school gardens and
business gardens. The deadline for this year’s competition is 3rd
June.
Anna Williams, project officer said: “This award scheme is open
for all whether you have a large or small garden; there is a
separate category for small private gardens.

Many people like to help our native wildlife and some easy ways
to do this are to grow plants rich in nectar for insects,
shrubs full of berries for birds, plant trees and hedges, dig a
pond, make your own compost and reduce the use of pesticides in
your garden. Work with nature, observe it, relax and enter our
friendly competition to learn more and to meet like minded people
at the prize giving ceremony at Portmeirion on July, the 8th”.
we are offering a first prize of £100 in each category in this
unique award scheme which encourages people in gwynedd, conwy and
anglesey to attract more wildlife to their gardens!
All you need to do to enter before the 3rd June is to contact
