Enjoying the country

The Countryside Code

We all love a day out in the countryside – fresh air, beautiful scenery, a break from the pace of day-to-day living. However, it's easy to unwittingly cause problems for yourself, and others. To ensure a safe, responsible and exciting countryside experience, follow the Countryside Code...

The Countryside Code is here to help you get the most out of your visit, whilst making sure the countryside remains a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.

It also provides helpful advice on how to prepare for your trip so that you’ll be ready for any eventuality, keeping yourself - as well as family and friends - out of harms way.

Living and working in the countryside

If you are living and working in the countryside you will probably be sharing your land with those who have come to enjoy it.

People visiting the countryside bring valuable income to the rural economy, as well as benefiting individually from their visits.

Most people who visit the countryside value and respect it, though they may not always know how - for this, they need your help.

Children and the countryside

Are you planning a children's countryside trip? Would you like some help in illustrating the beauy of nature - and how to behave in the countryside environment? The new Countryside Code education packs cover this, and more.

Look out for them on the Countryside Code website (follow the link below or see 'our other sites' box).
