Countryside Council for Wales
Enjoying the country

Local Access Forums

There are ongoing efforts in Wales to improve public access to land - everyone should have the ability to enjoy the Welsh countryside and appreciate all it has to offer. Twenty-nine Local Access Forums (LAFs) have therefore been set up in Wales to advise local authorities, the Countryside Council for Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government on access developments...

Whilst administering this advice, LAFs always consider the important issues surrounding land management - as well as the real need to conserve the natural beauty of the area.

The Local Access Forums in Wales maintain contact with each other through the annual Chairs Meeting, and the Annual Conference. They also elect a National Representative and a Deputy National Representative who's roles are to represent the LAFs at appropriate events, forums and meetings e.g. the National Access Forum.

Future Meeting:

  • LAF Chairs Meeting 25th February 2010, Builth Wells
  • LAF Conference 20th May 2010, Builth Wells
