European Marine Sites Regulation 33 Advice
The Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) has
prepared advice to relevant authorities under Regulation 33 of
The Conservation (Natural Habitats, etc) Regulations 1994.
The advice is referred to as the 'Regulation 33 package'
The purpose of European Marine Sites is to conserve the
internationally important marine habitats and species that occur
within them.
Under Regulation 33 of the Habitats Regulations we have a
responsiblity to tell the relevant authorities (the various
statutory authorities and agencies responsible for the European
Marine Sites) what the conservation objectives for the sites are,
and also to tell them what activities may cause damage or
disturbance to the special features.

Our knowledge and understanding of wildlife is continually
improving. It is possible that new issues may arise in the
future, whilst other issues may disappear. This advice is
written with the best information we have now, but may have to
change in the future as our understanding improves.
