Protecting our landscape
We have some of the most diverse and appealing
landscapes in the world. Well over a quarter of the land
surface in Wales is protected because of its high quality
landscapes. They are important for our social,
environmental and economic well-being, attracting visitors and
businesses alike.
Wales is full of beautiful places. 30% of Wales' land and waters
has been designated as 'special' - either by UK, European or
International law.

Nature Reserves
There are 71 National Nature Reserves (NNRs) in Wales ranging in
size from half a hectare to nearly 8,000 hectares.
