GIS Download - Welcome
Welcome to the GIS data Download pages. These
pages provide information about our Geographic Information System
(GIS) data holdings, and those datasets that are available for
download. Other digital data, such as background mapping, is not
included. To be able to view, query or analyse this data you will
need access to a GIS or map viewer software.
It has come to our attention that it is not permissible
to use our Protected Sites Datasets, which are Derived from
Ordnance Survey (OS) Base Mapping, on the Google Earth and Google
Map Applications, due to a possible infringement of OS Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR).
Therefore we are advising our customers of this
situation and that they should not be utilising our data in this
manner.
However, Microsoft and Ordnance Survey have come to an
arrangement where suitable Licensing Terms and Conditions would
permit the use of derived Data on the Virtual Earth applet.
We advise you to read the Terms and Conditions of any licensing
arrangements with Google Earth, Google Maps, and Virtual Earth very
carefully.
It is hoped that an agreement will be reached between Ordnance
Survey and Google in the near future.
Unfortunately the Ancient and Semi Natural Woodland Dataset
(ASNW) is not available for download from this site, but it can be
emailed to you.
