Landscape in planning

The effect on landscape is one of the considerations when proposals are put forward for new developments or when a planning application is made.

Local planning authorities have a statutory duty to consult CCW on planning applications where CCW’s interests may be affected, which include both protected landscapes and the wider landscape.

Where relevant, we will use information derived from Protected Area management plans, our landscape assessments (LANDMAP, seascapes, historic landscapes) and guidance documents to give our advice.

We welcome consultation at an early stage so that our advice can be incorporated into development proposals.
